Jacob Schmalzel 1869-1872

While Schmalzel appears in the directory before 1869 he is listed at a different address so the only years this stoneware would have been in use was from 1869-1872.  Schmalzel was one of only a few that ever added their address to the stoneware which naturally would help it finds it's way home.  Unfortunately for Schmalzel the bottling must not have been very successful as only a few of these bottles have been documented.

Charles Schuster's Bottling House 1877-1878

Schuster was another bottler of George Ehret's beer and was probably the first in Baltimore to be awarded the contract.  Schuster's Bottling House was at 132. W. Lombard but only lasted two years.  HIs bottles are extremely rare with three documented and highly sought after by Baltimore and New York collectors due to the connection to Ehret.

Simonton & Company's Bottling House 1881-1883

G. T. Simonton was most likely the earliest bottler in Baltimore for the Bartholomay's Brewing Company in New York.  Located at 5 N. Eutaw St his business only lasted just under three years.  Simonton would have received the beer from New York in kegs and then siphoned the beer to his bottles for local sale.

#1575

Smith's Bottling House @1910

No information has been found regarding Smith's Bottling House.  The address in 1913 is associated with the  Berry, C. B. Derbyshire Bottling Works.  Smith's most likely existed just before Derbyshire.
