Bay View Brewery 1868-1901

The Bay View brewery was located at Eastern Ave Extended.  Only 1 embossed bottle is associated with Bay View in Baltimore.  Bay View also opened and very successfully operated a branch in Norfolk, VA at 12 Hill St.   In 1901 the brewery in Baltimore/Norfolk was bought out  by the Gottlieb-Bauernschmidt-Strauss (GBS) corporation.  Bottles from that brewery are discussed in that owners page.

Henry Beck's Celebrated Weiss Beer Brewery 1871-1912

Henry Beck operated his Celebrated Weiss Beer brewery out of his residence located on the corner of Fayette & Castle Sts.  He passes away in 1884 however his wife Ernestine continues running the brewery until his son Henry is of age and knowledgeable to take over the brewery.   Henry Jr continues up to 1912.  Early stoneware was impressed with his name and hand thrown in Baltimore.  Stenciled versions followed with one noting a pottery mark from PA.

Beck's Weiss Beer brewery operated its entire 41 years in the same location and rowhouse.  This insurance map from 1910 shows the mash tub and kiln for the manufacture of Weiss beer.
