Philip Brendel's West End Bottling House 1901-1910

Phil Brendel's West End Bottling House was located at 7 Caton Ave in West Baltimore.  Brendel originally partnered with George Schacher in their Brendel & Schacher Bottling House from 1898-1902.  Brendel then went out on his own and bottled beer for several local breweries including Frank Steil's Independent Brewing Company from 1901-1010.

Brendel & Schacher's Bottling House 1898-1902

Charles Brendel and George Schacher ran a bottling house first at 848-856 Frederick Ave and later at 30 N. First Ave.  They bottled Kloster Beer from the Mount Brewery and Germania Lager from the Germania Brewery before both breweries started their own bottling houses.

By 1901 Brendel & Schacher downsized into a single rowhome size location at 30 N. First Ave however they would soon be out of business by 1902.  This leaves very few bottles embossed with there company name.

Fyte (Viet) Butchky 1849-1860

Butchky, while originally listed as a dealer in vinegar, later operated a small brewery at 113 Eastern Ave.  Butchky is hard to track as his first and last name were often misspelled in the Baltimore City Directories.  Viet, Veil, Feat, Fyte has been found as his first name.  His last name can be found as Butchky, Butckey, Bustoh and Buichkey.  3 examples of his stoneware are currently documented.

27 Aug 1868, while no records can be round as to what type of beer, mead etc Butchky brewed, here we find him bowling with a group of brewers that mostly brewed Weiss Beer.
