Rennert House 1878

Robert Rennert ran a very successful House, then Hotel and Restaurants before and after in his name.  One example of a beer bottle from the Rennert House has been documented.  Whether this was a presentation bottle or a potential salesman sample is unknown.

An 1890 view of the Hotel Rennert known for it's European design.

Charles Root's Confectionery 1870-1874

Charles Root was in the confectionery business from 1870-1874 at Baltimore and Light St.  As noted with other entries, confectioneries would have ample supply of fresh fruits and naturally when fruits and other supplies age they can be used to make alcohol beverages.  Root's Ginger Spray was no doubt a side business from his confectionery shop enabling him to use spoils to turn some additional profit.  Other than the two examples shown here, one other item of stoneware is linked to Root, that being a small stoneware cup with the same embossing as #2080.

Nicholas Rooney 1853-1854

Rooney ran a Porter establishment from 1853-1854 at 118 N. Howard St.  Shortly prior to this he partnered with Metcalf but only for a very brief time.  His bottles are found in two slightly different forms but all with blue wash over the impressions.

Jacob Ruppert's Brewery 1899-1903

Ruppert's New York Brewery opened a bottling house in 1899-1903 at 410-412 W. Camden St.  Ruppert's Extra Pale, Pale and Russicher (Extra Dark) beers were shipped in kegs from New York and then the beer was siphoned from the keg and bottled for local usage.

A 1902 view of Ruppert's Bottling House.  Lemkuhl was a well known Baltimore bottler that previously had his own bottling house.  Ruppert put his beers under Lemkuhl's control during the bottling in Baltimore.
