Historical Context

Wehr Hobelmann and Gottlieb were maltsters suppling malt to local brewers. Many local brewers unfortunately became indebted to them. This forced Wehr Hobbelmann and Gottlieb to close and sell many breweries to recoup any loss. In 1890 their location on Hanover, Conway & Perry became the Globe Brewery which was one of only a few to survive Prohibition.
