Historical Context
Babb was an established bottler in Baltimore from 1851-1857 (dies) at various locations such as 79 North, 13 Cheapside and 181 W. Pratt. Peter would purchase various beverages in kegs in bulk and then siphon the beverage to his own bottles. Peter used specific shaped bottles. For ale, beer, porter and stout we find two traditional porter shaped bottles and one early transitional lager shape.
